The TPS715A01DRBT is a low-dropout (LDO) Voltage Regulator offers the benefits of high input voltage, low-dropout voltage and low-power operation. The device operates over an input range of 2.5 to 24V and is stable with any capacitor (>=0.47µF). The high maximum input voltage combined with excellent power dissipation capability makes this device particularly well-suited to industrial and automotive applications. A PMOS pass element functions as a low-value resistor. The low dropout voltage, typically 670mV at 80mA of load current, is directly proportional to the load current. The low quiescent current is nearly constant over the entire range of output load current (0 to 80mA). The low quiescent current makes the device ideal for powering battery management devices. Specifically, because the device is enabled as soon as the applied voltage reaches the minimum input voltage and the output is quickly available to power continuously-operating, battery-charging device.
