The STEVAL-ISA180V1 from STMicroelectronics is a 12V/0.6A flyback isolated converter using VIPer™ Plus VIPer0P. This evaluation board implements a wide mains range flyback isolated converter (12V/0.6A), developed for general purpose applications. This high voltage converter intelligently integrates an 80V rugged power MOSFET with PWM current mode control. The core of the application is the new VIPer0P off-line high voltage converter from VIPerPlus family with zero power features. The evaluation board features a small size and minimal BOM, high efficiency, low standby consumption and high reliability due to pulse skip mode to avoid flux run away, delayed overload protection (OLP), maximum duty cycle counter, VCC clamp and thermal shutdown. It is compliant with the 10% load efficiency and 4-point average active mode efficiency targets prescribed by the European CoC ver. 5 Tier 2.

  • Five star energy efficiency when operating with no load (PIN_no_load < 18mW at 230VAC)
  • Rated output power is 7.2W, precision of output regulation is ±5%
  • Less than 18mW input power in standby mode at 230VAC
  • Greater than 80% active mode efficiency
  • Meets IEC55022 Class B conducted EMI even with reduced EMI filter
  • High frequency output voltage ripple is 50mV
  • Switching frequency is 60KHz
  • Maximum ambient operating temperature is 60°C
